Head of Public Relations and Marketing – Leading Fashion Label

Our client is a leading American fashion label that is both based and manufactured in New York City. The label is currently seeking a seasoned fashion PR candidate to act as the Head of PR and Marketing. This is a really great opportunity as this person will work closely and report directly into both the designer and company President.  The successful candidate will be responsible for heading up all PR and Marketing based initiatives for the agency and as a result they should possess a strong understanding of the industry and be capable of adding significant value at the senior level in regards to all decision making. This person should also possess a team player mentality and hands on approach.

 Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement annual, seasonal and project based PR strategies for the label
  • Maintain strong relationships with national and regional editors to secure placement in key publications
  • Maintain strong relationships with key influencers and members of the media
  • Develop innovative story pitches and generate positive buzz surrounding the brand
  • Lead the conception and supply of seasonal press kits and press materials
  • Attend key industry events
  • Seamlessly manage special projects and various brand based initiatives
  • Act as lead on all events (including but not limited to NY Fashion Week)
  • Maintain relationships with key industry leaders, editors, stylists, and publicists
  • Work to enhance a positive and thriving brand image
  • Lead and mentor junior level team members, while working cross functionally
  • Oversee seasonal press releases and all
  • Working directly with the company President and the labels designer on all key press and marketing related initiatives

Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ Degree
  • 10-15 years of Public Relations and Communications experience required
  • Strong understanding of brand positioning
  • Must possess a team player mentality and hands on approach
  • Thorough understanding and knowledge of the fashion and press industries (relationships with the necessary influencers)
  • Substantial US brand experience
  • Experience with national and regional press required
  • Highly engaged in the fashion world and constantly up to speed on industry trends and happenings
  • Solid events experience is a must (fashion shows, press previews, etc.)
  • Ability to manage others, while working successfully in a fast paced environment
  • Candidate should possess strong strategic thinking capabilities
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to add value at the senior level
  • Ability to clearly voice opinions in regards to all aspects of the job
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills required
