Our client, a New York based specialty retailer in women’s fashion, is seeking an experienced Director of Public Relations. This is the most senior communications role within the company and will report directly into the CMO. The Director of PR will be responsible for developing innovative communications strategies and programs to increase brand awareness and drive traffic to the retail, outlet, and ECM stores. He or she will work closely with the marketing team and will support key brand marketing campaigns and initiatives. Responsibilities:
- Develop PR strategies and programs to successfully support marketing strategies and goals
- Play a pivotal role in the company’s collaborations with the brands celebrity spokesperson. Work closely with the celebrity’s Publicist and management team to coordinate activities, events, etc.
- Focus on PR programs and activities that are designed to drive business growth and brand equity
- Develop and execute high impact PR programs such as new product launches, media tours, in-store events, editorial coverage and special events
- Work with media outlets to generate publicity and editorial placements for both the brand and the celebrity collaboration/collections
- Speak on record regarding product and company information to national and regional media outlets (including newspapers, magazines and television)
- Execute and manage all PR related events
- Collaborate with the social media team to leverage key partnerships and events on crucial social platforms
- Maintain strong relationships with editors, bloggers and key members of the media in order to garner coverage for the brand in broadcast, magazine and digital channels
Requirements:
- 4-year degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in Public Relations
- Well versed in media, fashion, pop culture, retail and entertainment industry trends
- Highly engaged in social media and able to drive engagement among key social media influencers
- Proven relationships with media and business contacts that have delivered demonstrable results
- Strong communications skills
- Strong organizational skills managing priorities and workflows
- Experience managing PR agency partners
- Strong interpersonal skills with experience in supervising and managing multiple projects and cross-functional collaborations
- Ability to adapt to changing deadlines and schedules
- Self-starter who can multi-task and prioritize
- Skilled at writing press releases and other PR related documents
