Our client is one of Manhattan’s most iconic and dynamic PR firms. The agency works across multiple categories including health and wellness, luxury real estate, lifestyle, consumer brands, travel and entertainment. They are currently seeking a seasoned Managing Director to lead and manage a 35+ person team. This person will act as second in command and will be working very closely with the agency’s President. This is an exceptional opportunity for a talented senior level executive who holds solid managerial experience and is looking to take their career to the next level. Great growth potential exists as the agency is continuing to grow and is consistently acquiring new accounts.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the growth of the company by overseeing the staff on a day-to-day basis to ensure accounts are serviced consistently and appropriately
  • Work closely with the President to oversee high-profile issues and agency events
  • Attend all agency events to represent the agency as Managing Director
  • Focus on client relations and retention
  • Spearhead new business meetings and generate new business
  • Attend transition meetings with clients and account executives
  • Management of the staff
  • Responsible for the sharing of best practices among the agency’s divisions and account teams
  • Ensuring all accounts are receiving appropriate attention and media coverage
  • Act as a client relationship manager and reporting account status updates to the President on a regular basis
  • Overseeing account management and advising on problem accounts including sustained follow through with the team members on their respective campaigns.
  • Advising on media relations procedures and best practices for the office

Requirements:

  • A minimum of fifteen years of experience in a PR agency is required
  • Substantial experience managing or developing a staff
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and staff members
  • Superior follow-up and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven negotiation skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to gain consensus but determine when strong management action is required
  • Analytical skills and the ability to view a current situation and opportunities for improvement
  • Confidence presenting, consulting and selling
