Our client is a leading consumer internet startup and is now a household name. The company has experienced a tremendous amount of growth since its launch in 2004 and are now looking for someone to lead their merchant development strategy. Reporting to the VP of Sales and Business Development, this role has high visibility and offers a unique opportunity to develop the merchant development strategy for a rapidly growing technology company that’s changing the way consumers interact with their neighborhoods online.

Responsibilities:

  • Drawing from their expansive data analytics resources, you will lead the effort in identifying, implementing and managing the selling of selected products and programs to their national network of merchant partners
  • These partners represent one side of their two-sided marketplace, so it is imperative that our client equips their partners with the products and technologies they need to drive incremental revenue opportunities
  • You will establish relationships externally with the key decision makers at their merchant partners and get them excited about further growing their business< Internally, you’ll work cross-functionally with teams across the organization to ensure these merchants achieve the highest degree of success
  • You will also spearhead an effort to identify highly performant merchants that require additional attention and can also serve as resources for showcasing their capabilities to a broader audience, including prospective partners, media and other constituents
  • This role requires someone with management experience as you’ll be managing an existing team of merchant development representatives tasked with optimizing the merchant partners’ experience
  • You will be responsible for creating and monitoring your team’s monthly targets and quarterly initiatives and you’ll lead hiring processes to grow the team in line with the continued growth of the merchant partner network

Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate is a creative thinker who can rally a team of motivated account managers around their respective responsibilities and unique ideas to drive revenue
  • You’re a “data nerd” who doesn’t do anything until you’ve conducted a deep analysis of ROI and continue to report on performance long after a new product or program is put into the market
  • You keep a close eye on team member performance and act quickly to fix any issues that may keep us from surpassing company goals
  • You’ve got a deep understanding of today’s technology space and a working knowledge of various online business tools and analytics platforms
