Our client is a new app that is changing the ecommerce experience in ways that most social media sites do not. It is a social marketplace that is quickly becoming the world’s largest shopping destination; pulling hundreds of millions of products from thousands of household brands and allowing consumers to recommend these to their community, then rewarding them for doing so. The patented technology has secured series A funding and the company is on a quest to change the face of internet shopping, forever. The app uses key elements from the most popular social media and adds some perks of its own. Like Facebook, you can create a profile and find your friends on the app, as well as “like” designs by brands, these likes which will save to your profile, similar to Pinterest. The app is unique because it is utilized in B2C ecommerce in ways no social media outlet has tried before.

The app is about to launch in the US and we are helping them identify several individuals who will be responsible for strategic business development and partnerships with fashion brands. You will be responsible for proactively sourcing and developing new business opportunities and building long term relationships with merchants. Through a consultative sales approach, you will present business solutions to meet the merchants and customers’ expectations and will become a vital part of the merchants marketing and business plans.


  • Present the brand as the unique opportunity for retailers to acquire new customers, generate incremental sales and obtain actionable social media intelligence, via their cutting edge social commerce platform
  • Construct and negotiate offers which meet expectations of the app, retailers and consumers
  • Achieve and exceed on weekly and monthly KPIs
  • Get excited about the app and pass on that excitement and passion to retailers and promote the power of customer acquisition through social recommendation
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of your retailers and adopt a consultative sales approach
  • Hand hold retailers through the full process
  • Maintain regular contact with a selected group of existing retailers and build long term relationships
  • Take ownership of the full sales process
  • Strong knowledge of all aspects of the client’s business model and the daily deal market
  • Work with internal support functions to ensure that every client that goes live on the platform meets quality standards
  • Utilize internal tools to optimize performance
  • Involve line management to assist with closing deals where necessary
  • Good understanding of seasonality and when is the best time to feature retailers
  • Demonstrate understanding of market trends and social media hot topics


  • Proven track record of new business acquisition in the fashion, retail, marketplace or e-commerce industries
  • Proven commercial leadership with business development experience at start-ups, large consumer Internet or fashion companies
  • Excellent communication skills, must have a consultative sales approach and be a strong persuader and influencer
  • Strong relationship builder, has a positive attitude and is a team player
  • Highly driven, is self-motivated, target orientated, resilient and tenacious
  • Customer focused, enjoys working autonomously, hits the ground running and demonstrates a willingness to learn
